Lighting Design
Our highly skilled team of lighting designers, lighting consultants and project managers work tirelessly to turn client-driven illumination aspirations into radiant reality.
With over a decade of experience in lighting design for commercial and residential clients throughout the UK, Asco Lights has the professional expertise to assist any architect, interior designer, electrical engineer, property developer, hotelier, home entertainment and automation company, restaurateur or homeowner on any size of project. Our conceptions range from the practical and compliant to the innovative and spectacular, and our lighting designers excel at tailoring their talents to each individual client's needs.
Whether you're looking for our lighting designers to simply produce a clear and meticulously detailed CAD illustration or to take a more involved role, as project managers of your lighting installation on site, or to supply, internationally source or design the perfect light fittings for your needs, you could not wish for a better or more knowledgeable partner.
No matter whether a project is as majestic as the lobby of a grand hotel, as small and seemingly straightforward as a single room, as immense as the lighting design of an entire building or as intricate and flamboyant as the mix of corporate branding and lighting design in a corporate reception area, our team of lighting designers will always find the best lighting systems to meet your needs and exceed your expectations.
The cold hard facts of the position, angle, colour and intensity of light needed to achieve a room's desired ambience just scratch the surface of the artistic talent that every one of our lighting designers possesses. Their canvas is the space they have to work with and their paint is the light they bring to that space.
Lighting Design Process
1.Brief development
Our lighting designers will be happy to meet you
on-site, at our design centre and showroom in Stockport near
Manchester, in our London offices, or anywhere else that's
convenient for you. We need to fully understand how your space(s)
will be used and whether you have a clear idea of the
lighting systems that you will need before we
can
develop a complete brief to cover your requirements on a project.
We make no assumptions;our lighting designers will
simply draw from you what your lighting
aspirations are then offer advice based on years of specialist
experience of
fittings, lighting designs and building regulation compliance.
Your initial meetings with our lighting designers
may also involve discussions about specific light fittings, bespoke
lighting, lighting control and home automation, and a complete
run
through of the schedule and process involved. It is our role to
offer you choice and clarity so you know exactly what will be
happening, who will be involved and what part we will play in your
development or refurbishment.
2.Site visit
It is important for our lighting designers to understand the built environment they will be designing for; therefore, in most cases, we will arrange for a site visit where they will be able to take notes, photos and sketches of the space(s)
3.Part L compliance
We make sure that all our fittings comply with the Part L
section of your building regulations and provide you with all the
information you'll need to give to your building control
officer.Discussions on the subject of compliance will start in our
very first meeting
where we gather information from you or your architects and we are
there every
step of the way with you to ensure that any questions you or your
building
control officer have are answered clearly and swiftly.
4.2D drawings
The first designs that our lighting designers will
produce for you will be two-dimensional plans of the lighting for
your space(s) using AutoCAD. These will represent where your
lighting should be placed and what will be involved in your new
lighting system. On
approval of these drawings we can, on your instruction, produce
further visual
representations of the lighting designs or proceed with the
project.
5.Lighting design presentation
Once our lighting designers have completed their
designs and initial fitting selections we will develop a
presentation to show you exactly what your lighting design will
look like. The
presentation will involve our 2D drawings, options of different
lighting
products, and photographs from other projects with similar designs
and products.
You will be invited to our Manchester design studio and showroom
for this
presentation where we will offer you advice on potential cost
savings and
fittings from a huge range of lighting manufacturers.
Our goal is to achieve your lighting aspirations
and therefore we do all we can to show you the potential end
results of our
work, and present you with all the options for you to make an
informed decision
on both budget and design.
6. Additional visual aids
On your instruction we can produce more detailed visual aids to
show you what your lighting design will look like. From the AutoCAD
drawings we will then use sophisticated software to produce high
quality three-dimensional rendered representations of your project
that will bring it to life. Our lighting designers can
even arrange for a 3D walk
through video to be produced to allow you to immerse yourself in
the design.
7.Quotation
Once all the products, designs and schedules
have been agreed we will be able to provide you with a detailed
quotation for
the project.
8.Sign-off on project
All elements of the brief will need to be signed off before we can begin work, as it is important to us that every facet of your project has been considered, agreed and approved.
9. Installation and project management
If you have your own electrical engineers to
install our lighting designs we will gladly provide them with all
the relevant
information they need to turn our lighting designers'
visions into
project reality. This will include: detailed specifications,
circuit plans,
detailed notes, a mood board where required, and our support
throughout the
installation where it is needed.
If you do not have your own electrical engineers we will be able to recommend a trusted firm that we have relied upon for previous projects.
As an end-to-end lighting consultancy, design and supply firm we also offer a project management service where we take responsibility for coordinating the various professionals on the project that will be involved in the lighting design process.
